In the summer of 2006, I was researching ways to volunteer in the Sedona area. I began by volunteering to do some SCC pool supervision.

During that summer I had the opportunity to meet Sue Barrington and discuss the SCC center and its many services.

We discussed my background being so similar to hers and she invited me to consider being a Board member. I was seeking a way to give to the community of Sedona and it was put right in my lap. Of course, I said yes.

What I hope to achieve as a Board Member:

Most important is to be an active Board Member and participate in the projects that are presented.

There are many projects in the works and it is important that I help in any way possible to see that the SSC continues to be a very important organization in this community.

Other relevant information:

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and moved with my family to Los Angeles, CA during the summer of 1961.

I received a Secondary Teaching Certificate and BA from Whittier College in 1964.

I began teaching High School in 1964 and retired from that position in June 2004.

My greatest achievement in the teaching profession was to develop a Business Academy within the high school itself.

It was designed to help at risk kids to succeed in high school and go on to further their education. It has been very successful in that pursuit.

After retiring, I moved to Sedona in the fall of 2004.

I also received a degree in Accounting and have used it to develop a successful Tax Business for individuals. My business is still active and has become Universe Enterprises-A Tax Service, LLC in the state of Arizona.
